MTV Makes History with All Women Nominees for Artist of the Year VMA

the nominees for MTV’s VMA Artist of the Year are all women – marking the first time since the award was introduced in 2017.

The MTV Video Music Awards is set for September 12 at 8 p.m. EDT and will occur at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The five all-women nominees this year include Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Shakira, and Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift is the top nominee for the event with an impressive eight nods while Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj follow her closely with six. But all woman has proved to have an exceptional music year in 2023.

The Era’s tour with Taylor Swift has taken over the country as tons of fans have awaited her tour which has amplified everyone’s love for her music.  While Doja Cat released a top hit – “Attention” along with winning a Grammy and Nicki Minja has released top hits like “Endless Fashion,” “Money,” and “Barbie World.”

Beyoncé has also been on her Renaissance Tour which has been a major event for fans as well but has just started in July. People have spent big dollars to attend both the Taylor Swift and Beyoncé tour this year proving their excellence.

While Karol G and Shakira have been on their own successful journey with their song together “TQG” which brought in 728 million views on YouTube. Karol G is on her Mañana Será Bonito Tour currently and Shakira was named Billboards 2023 Woman of the Year for her contribution to music and bringing recognition to Latina women.

A full list of women for the VMAs is groundbreaking and proves the major influence and impact women have in the year 2023 which can be felt across all media and music. Women are making a strong stance in the industry more than ever.
