Danny Tenaglia Reveals Cancer Diagnosis in Heartfelt Message

In a five-minute-long video posted on Facebook, Danny Tenaglia announced that he has cancer, explaining what he has been going through and what is to come.

After a string of canceled events, Danny Tenaglia has revealed to fans that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in May and is undergoing daily radiation treatment. He has two of the six weeks left and promises that he is feeling okay and remaining hopeful throughout the process. His dedication and love for creating music shines in the message as he talks about future shows.

The announcement came as a surprise to many and he explained the emotional difficulty of dealing with his sickness. On Facebook, he wrote, “…I wanted to wait and see how well I would be tolerating the situation as news like this initially is scary AF. But now that I’m 4 weeks into treatments and feeling fine, I felt today was the day to share.”

Tenaglia will have another analysis in six weeks that may lead to more radiation depending on the state of his health. With the uncertainty of the future, he is considering parting with his well-loved studio equipment by putting together an auction on his Facebook page. The artist is also considering parting with his record collection.

A pioneer in electronic music, the Brooklyn native made his way to Miami and began his music career in nightclubs. With his club beats and infectious energy, Tenegalia was able to release a number of albums and singles that have hit number one on the charts. From 2000 to 2014, he was nominated for a Grammy and went on to win awards at the DJ Awards, International Dance Music Awards, and the Muzik Awards.

Tenaglia finished his message by reminding viewers of the significance of getting colonoscopies regularly once reaching the age of 50. “I’m strong. I’m fighting this,” he said, continuing to show his strength throughout this difficult process. He is tentatively continuing to work locally and has an upcoming performance in Brooklyn.

There is no doubt that Danny Tenaglia has made an incredible impact on the scene and will continue to do so as he fights cancer. We are sending him love and good vibes as he continues treatment and focuses on his health.
