What to Know About Steve Aoki’s Playhouse

Steve Aoki’s playhouse is a 16,779-square-foot mansion overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, and housing the DJ’s most prized possessions.

The American DJ Steve Aoki has a wealth of interesting accomplishments and possessions under his belt. First of all, he’s the founder and visionary behind Dim Mak Records, the label that helped the Chainsmokers get their big break. Today, Dim Mak is one of the most widely regarded labels in the dance music scene. Dim Mak is about more than just music, though. It’s an event company and lifestyle brand that promotes Aoki’s vision for the party scene.

However, another true testament to Aoki’s legacy is his “playhouse.” Steve Aoki’s playhouse is his Las Vegas home that’s adorned with funky art, interactive games, and most importantly, Aoki’s friends. As someone who made $30 in 2019 alone, according to Forbes, it totally makes sense (and it might be the first good use of money someone has had in a long time). But that’s not to say Aoki’s wealth came without hard work—it’s estimated that he plays about 300 shows every year, hardly taking a day off. Perhaps he learned this work ethic from Mr. Benihana himself, aka Steve’s dad.

Steve Aoki’s playhouse is effectively an adult playground. It’s equipped with a foam pit, a pool, a fitness area, a library, and even an ice bath. No matter what your idea of fun is, there’s something for everyone.

Not to mention, LOTS of artwork. Most notably, Steve Aoki’s playhouse has a KAWS room. The room is filled with KAWS figurines of all sizes, colorful and textured walls, and “AOKI’S PLAYHOUSE” painted tastefully on the back wall. The home also includes pieces by Banksy, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami, OSGEMEOS, and Nobuyoshi Araki.

In addition to being his home and personal art gallery, Steve Aoki’s playhouse also doubles as his studio when he’s not on the road. There, Aoki’s songs and mixes come to life, as do collaborations. Aoki frequently hosts his artist friends to visit his studio to work on music together. Steve Aoki’s playhouse is the ultimate manifestation of the saying “Work hard, play hard.”

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
