Luci Remixes Flyleaf’s 2005 Hit Track ‘All Around Me’

Luci drops her new single ‘All Around Me’ featuring her new electronic pop sound.

American DJ Luci just dropped a new single ‘All Around Me,’ a poppy track that stands in contrast to her hard dubstep origins. Luci began her career in EDM, producing experimental dub and heavy dubstep. Post the pandemic, Luci reevaluated her reasons for making music and creating art. Rather than prioritize the crowd’s reaction to dubstep drops (that is, in 2020 there was no crowd), she wanted to make music that excited her throughout production.

In the past, touring was always her favorite part of the job, while music production felt more chore-like. But with pop music, Luci has expressed discovering a newfound and genuine joy for production, a strong indication that this is her best path.

Luci’s new song ‘All Around Me’ is ethereal, poppy, emo, punk, and fun. It’s giving Evanescence meets Avril Levine meets mau5trap. It features the lyrics, “I can feel you all around me; think I need the air I’m breathing; holding onto what I’m feeling; savoring this heart that’s healing.” These lyrics showcase a consistent theme for Luci, who has been open about her post-break-up emotions and the difficulties of navigating youth. After her breakup with REZZ, Luci dropped an entire album, which she characterized as a “breakup” journey in an interview earlier this year with EDM.com. Beyond her past public relationships, Luci has shared that she is excited to represent the LGBTQ community in pop music, which doesn’t often feature lesbian pop stars.

Luci also embarked on a tour this year, beginning in August, that will culminate in February of 2024. The tour pitstops include Tempe, Baton Rouge, Honolulu, Denver, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Vancouver, and more to be announced. As Luci’s sound continues to evolve, the transition from heavy dub to poppy EDM will be interesting to witness live.
