Peggy Gou’s Most Iconic Fashion Looks of 2023

A look back on DJ Peggy Gou’s most iconic fashion moments of 2023.

Peggy Gou, a South Korean DJ currently based in Berlin, Germany, has proven herself to be an artist to watch – and a fashion icon to admire. Her most recent hit “(It Goes Like) Nanana” swept the internet, festival setlists, the radio, TikTok, and more, shining a spotlight on all things Gou. Beyond her music, recent hits, and rise to celebrity, she stands monolithic in another artist venture: fashion.

Gou originally wanted to be a singer and musician. In her formative years, she was a classically trained pianist, composing her first original piece at the age of eight. Although Gou was born in Seoul, South Korea, she moved to London at 14 and decided to put music aside to study at the London College of Fashion. While studying design, she somehow managed to reclaim her original path, music, and began producing electronic tracks and performing at London’s Cirque Le Soir nightclub. In her early 20’s, she moved to Berlin, going on to DJ at the world-famous Berghain.

Although Gou’s path has been tortuous, non-linear, and mainly focused on music, her aptitude for fashion and art makes its way into everything she does. From her online presence, which touts look after look, to her appearance at events like New York, Paris, and Milan Fashion Week, to pitstops at touring art shows like Miami Art Basel, she’s always dressed impeccably and in the right place at the right time, all around the world.

Something specific about Peggy Gou: she has mastered the art of street fashion. She pairs vibrant colors with classic designer handbags. She juxtaposes rugged textures like denim and canvas with expensive ones subtle subtle lambskin and dainty lace. She sports baggy pants and tennis shoes yet rocks Vivian Westwood pearl necklaces, Hermes handbags, and Parada phone cases. It’s the perfect combination of the sour and the sweet, sophisticated wealth with cheeky influences of colloquialism.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
