Steve Aoki Attends Netflix’s First Live Golf Event

The first-ever Netflix Cup has kicked off including a surprise appearance by the cake-throwing DJ, Steve Aoki.

The world of many different activities has collided as the first-ever Netflix Cup makes waves in Las Vegas.  Many celebrities and athletes have shared their memories of this historic event including a familiar face to many in the electronic dance scene. Yep, that is right, the famous cake-throwing DJ, Steve Aoki was in attendance at this groundbreaking event in Las Vegas. 

On November 14th, something a little different made its way to the party city of Las Vegas. The first-ever Netflix Cup is a groundbreaking live sports event that merges the worlds of Formula 1 and professional golf. The event took place at the prestigious 18-hole Wynn Golf Club at Wynn Las Vegas. 

It featured four pairs of athletes, each comprising a Formula 1 driver and a PGA Tour professional. Also, the golf tournament was hosted by some pretty unique hosts. The hosts were sports personality Kay Adams, PGA golfer Joel Dahmen, comedian Bert Kreischer, and legendary running back Marshawn Lynch. The tournament unfolded in two matches, with the winners of each facing off in a final playoff for the coveted Netflix Cup title. Among the notable pairings are McLaren Racing’s Lando Norris, golfer Rickie Fowler, Williams Racing’s Alex Albon, and PGA Tour star Max Homa. 

Although Steve Aoki did not compete he showed his love and support to the contestants during the match. In his recent Instagram post, he recaps his experience. The producer shares his determination to become a competitive golfer despite being a level 1 player, expressing a goal to participate in tournaments and citing motivation gained from events like the Netflix Cup. Then, he highlights the diverse crew at the Cup, featuring F1 drivers, pro golfers, a comedian, a legendary pro baller, and a DJ. 

Following, he recognizes the presence of the legendary Marshawn Lynch and praises an iconic press conference. Lastly, he concludes with gratitude for catching a memorable moment during their first time at the event, emphasizing its significance. The first-ever Netflix Cup certainly was an epic event through the eyes of Steve Aoki! Maybe next year he will be a participant.
