Subtronics Drops Highly Anticipated DnB Remix of Phantogram’s “Black Out Days”

Six months after teasing his remix of “Black Out Days” by Phantogram, Subtronics has officially released the drum and bass mix on Republic Records and UMG Recordings.

The contagious remix is a fan-favorite at his live shows. With high tempos and dominating drums, “Black Out Days” transforms with its original melancholic vibe. Phantogram’s heartbreaking lyrics build anticipation for bass-filled, energetic drops.

Subtronics keeps the guitar and piano from the original, adding his wonky bass. Pulsing beats and darker melodies have created this highly-anticipated track.

Subtronics teased a clip of the remix on TikTok last year, gaining an insane amount of support from listeners. With over 800,000 views on social media, the producer began including the remix in his live sets. He debuted it at Decadence New Year’s Eve and later brought Phantogram out at the Kia Forum.

Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel, also known as Phantogram, have drawn listeners in with, “Black Out Days,” for ten years. Now, Subtronics’ drum and bass remix is extending the song to an even-wider audience, hitting the electronic community and inviting Phantogram’s fans to dance to a track that has been streamed over a billion times.

“This song is so special to us, and even after 10 years, it has truly taken on a life of its own finding new light in so many ways through its various versions and remixes, and your continued love of it on TikTok. When we first heard Subtronics’ take on the track, we were immediately hooked. We have loved getting to see all the footage of you all headbanging to this and could not be more excited to share this with you as an official remix,” Phantogram commented on the release.
