Slushii Deletes Twitter Amid Apparent Feud with Subtronics

Earlier this week, the drama on EDM Twitter unfolded after longtime legend Slushii posted a series of tweets about dubstep DJ Subtronics.

It all began when Slushii posted a series of tweets directed at Subtronics. In the first tweet, Slushii said, “subtronics smoke is up, u wanna talk abut it we’ll talk about it.” Another tweet around the same time read, “i don’t like tronics [subtronics]. they tend to get really mad at u when you are yourself. lmfao.”

In a separate quote tweet, the DJ responded to a user concerned about him and said, “if it wasn’t for certain riddim DJs (won’t name names) that threatened to harm me and hurt me and then mocking me.” Of course, Slushii didn’t name anyone in particular, but some fans believe he was alluding to Subtronics based on his other tweets directed at the dubstep/riddim DJ.

Slushii left it at that and then deleted his Twitter account shortly after. However, although the DJ was gone from the platform, the discussion among EDM fans continued. One person speculated, “Subtronics probably has broken into the elites where they control the whole industry” and then said, “and slushi [slushii] probably has that dirt on him.” This person questioned if maybe there’s other dirt, but regardless stood firm in their belief that “there’s dirt.”

However, another user believes they know what the drama is about. They tweeted, “So subtronics didn’t want slushii to play slushiis own music because subtronics wanted to play it?” This has led fans to wonder if it’s really something that innocent, or if it goes deeper like some believe.

Regardless, it appears dance music fans are more confused and shocked by the Slushii / Subtronics beef more than anything. Another person reacted by tweeting, “Slushii Vs Subtronics was not on my EDM Twitter bingo board for August.”

Last year, Slushii went on a Twitter rant about a feud with Marshmello. Subtronics has not acknowledged the drama on socials. In June of this year, Slushii took to Twitter to open up about his battle with mental health and addiction, noting that he’d recently survived an overdose. Now, all we can do is wait for Slushii to return to Twitter and wish the best for him.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
