Subtronics Takes Over The Brooklyn Mirage With Cyclops Recordings Imprint

We had the pleasure of attending Subtronics’ CyClops Recordings Brooklyn Mirage takeover, it was wild.

Subtronics, the dubstep wizard, took over the Brooklyn Mirage on July 20th and we were lucky enough to be there. This was Subtronics’ second Mirage headline show, with the first happening last year. Here’s Hoping this becomes an annual event.

Gracing the lineup was a two-stage takeover with dubstep and bass on mainstage Mirage and a DNB event in King’s Hall. In total, 10 artists were on the docket for the night.

On the dubstep stage, we were able to catch the sets from HOL! & Subtronics. Although they played individual sets at the Mirage, it’s important to note that the duo is dropping a new single Friday titled “‘Mind Pluck.’ Hearing it live RIPPED. We also caught Saka b2b Fly in King’s Hall.

The energy was absolutely electric. There was a girl pit – called for by HOL! (which was objectively funny to hear from a DJ while the bass is in your face). Although that’s not for me at a show, it was great to see a space carved for the gals who like to mosh. He obviously tossed in ‘Country Riddim‘ a healthy amount.

Subtronics took us on a journey, hit after hit. I love Subtronics, so fair to say I’m highly biased, but it was incredible. He flipped his song with GRiZ, ‘Gassed Up’ with ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac. What? It was the crossover I didn’t know I needed. Also, lasers, and fire, a lot of it. His parents were also there supporting Jesse (Subtronics), which is simply adorable.

When we got there we decided to check out Kings Hall to catch a vibe before heading to mainstage. That was a good choice. Saka b2b Fly was wobbly as hell. Deep bass with some nice melodic wubs and drops that make you ruin your Botox. Kings Hall was so dark too it was ominous, I loved it. I get down with some creepy bass.

Ok can we do it all again? Sametime, same place next year? Cool, thanks!

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
