Spotify Unveils New Jam Playlist Feature Ahead of NYE Festivities

Spotify’s Jam feature has taken social listening to new heights in time for your New Year’s Eve party.

From playing around in DAWs to creating playlists with your friends, music has always had a social aspect and a sense of community. This New Year’s, Spotify is leaning into the social aspect of sharing your music with their new Jam playlist feature.

Spotify’s new Jam playlist feature is available to all Spotify users. While only premium listeners can start new Jam sessions, free listeners can join the jam if they have the invite link, QR code, or the same Wi-FI. The Jam feature will allow those invited to share in the experience by adding songs to the queue and receiving recommendations, all from your own device.

The new Jam feature came just in time for New Year’s Eve. Whether you want to create the perfect vibe for your New Year’s house party or trying to set the mood at your kickback, the Jam feature gives all of your friends a chance on the AUX. As the host of the Jam session, you can change the order of tracks, remove songs from the queue, and determine who can join the session.

If you need help soundtracking your New Year’s Eve, Spotify’s Jam session will also give you personal recommendations on tracks that suit everyone’s taste. Furthermore, Jam sessions will only be available via Bluetooth-enabled smartphones and tablets. The feature is unavailable on desktop but will allow you to play through remote speakers.

The Jam feature comes after the success of Spotify’s collaborative playlists and their Blend feature. Where these two feature collaboration on playlists, in addition to the discovery of new music, Spotify’s Jam feature takes it further as Jam is an adjustable, live listening session.

Listening to music has always been a social aspect of many communities, and Spotify is making it even easier to share music with your friends. With the new Spotify Jam feature, you and your New Year’s Eve guests can curate a listening experience that blends all of your tastes into a live listening session.
