Music Community Organizes Bassnectar ‘Protest’ at Palladium NYE Show

After Bassnectar announced the details of his New Year’s Eve event, a group of music fans have organized a “protest” to take place outside of the venue.

According to the protest flyer that’s been circulating the internet, the gathering will be held at the same venue as Bassnectar’s show, presumably outside. The venue, Palladium Times Square (formerly PlayStation Theater) is located at 1515 Broadway, just two blocks from Times Square, where the annual Ball Drop is held.

The protest organizers have dubbed the event the “Eat Predators Protest” plastering the DJ’s name across the flyer. The protest will take place on December 30th from 8-10 PM. See the flyer below:

Also on the flyer graphic is “takedown ticketmaster,” presumably for facilitating the ticket sales for Bassnectar’s event. When the flyer circulated around Twitter, some users questioned its authenticity. However, another user confirmed the event was legitimate and that it was organized by former Nickelodeon star Alexa Nikolas.

Alexa has a history of organizing protests in support of abuse victims. In 2022, she led a protest outside of Nickelodeon’s Burbank studio due to alleged enabling of abuse by the network’s executives. Just recently, the star posted a video summarizing the Bassnectar allegations to her YouTube channel, @eatpredators. Watch below:

The Bassnectar protest is a response to Bassnectar’s two-night NYE run in New York City. The event has been titled “A NEW HORIZON,” according to the show flyer. The event is set to take place on December 30th and 31st, with each night being curated with a different lineup. Bassnectar himself will be making performances on both nights.

Tickets for A NEW HORIZON were released exclusively to members of Bassnectar’s online community, The Other Side, and were not made available to the general public. See the flyer below:

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
