Diplo Gets Lap Dance While on Stage at Madonna Concert

Madonna, 65, the pop icon of the past & current queen of cringe has invited Diplo on stage for a wild lap dance.

Madonna, the talent behind “Material Girl,” “Like a Virgin,” and the soundtrack to my middle school dances, “4 Minutes” has recently gotten back into touring. Madonna, an artist teetering on the edge of old age is still up to the same sultry shows as her 20s. She is truly an icon, but there is something uncomfortable about watching a 65-year-old dance like that.

Diplo, the producer and DJ, is a living legend. Despite what many say about him, he definitely has his faults, but the man is a creative genius from producing MIA’s first album to his numerous endeavors such as Major Lazer, Jack U, and his country era under the guise of Thomas Wesley. Makes sense that these two artists would inevitably at some point join forces, but on stage featuring a lap dance is not where we thought it may begin!

Madonna invited Diplo on stage by asking him to “sit here and be a good judge.” In an almost whiplash moment, Madonna’s dancers (male and female) are straddling Diplo on stage. Diplo doesn’t look like he hates it at all, but it looks like he is rather enjoying himself, many comments thought otherwise. Diplo, no stranger to the spotlight is seen with a grin as well as he posted it on his Insta.

We can’t really blame Diplo because what is a man to do, deny a lap dance (hint of sarcasm there)? However, we did find it interesting because this was not Madonna’s first rodeo with some intimacy on stage. Over 20 years ago, Madonna had a three-way kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage at the AMAs.

This kiss caused a pretty major controversy over the kiss, with some viewing it as queerbaiting, and some viewing it as indecent (rooted in homophobia of course). Although this spectacle probably wouldn’t bat an eye in 2023, it was kept under wraps from pretty much everyone on the production team and was highly edited when it aired, causing shock and awe to the production team and some viewers at home.

We think that it is important to note that sexuality and sex are a big part of music, as music can be an intimate conduit to a steamy makeout, some close dancing on the dancefloor, or even the intimacy of dancing with significant other in the kitchen. Sex sells! But as long as it is consensual, which it seems like it was for all of Madonna’s on-stage escapades.

She reigns Queen of Pop, but it is a bit odd to see a 65-year-old gyrating on stage, slightly cringe. But I guess I can’t be a judge because who knows where I’ll be at 65, probably headbanging in retirement.
