White House Pushes Insomniac and End Overdose’s Initiative to Save Lives Amid Opioid Crisis

The White House is partnering with End Overdose and Insomniac to tackle the Opioid crisis in the United States. 

The opioid crisis is a growing concern for Americans across the country, including young Americans who attend events where use can be prevalent. This week the White House launched a national initiative to save more lives in the middle of the opioid crisis. The initiative comes after the president announced a Unity Agenda for the country. 

One of the key components of President Biden’s Unity Agenda is beating the opioid epidemic. Opioid overdoses are the leading cause of death for young adults in the U.S. The crisis has led to increased availability of medications to treat people immediately. Insomniac wants to ensure continued access to those life-saving drugs. 

Insomniac Events is one of the biggest hosts of major music festivals and events in the country. Some of the most popular festivals and shows that Insomniac Events hosts include EDC Las Vegas and Beyond Wonderland Chicago. They will also be selling End Overdose merch at events. 

One of the most popular drugs for opioid overdose treatment is naloxone. Insomniac Events is making naloxone available at all of their future music events. In partnership with the nonprofit End Overdose, Insomniac will also be providing voluntary overdose education for festival attendees. 

End Overdose and Insomniac Events have already trained over 100,000 festival attendees together. The collaboration between the two is one of a few major companies contributing to the fight to end the opioid crisis. U.S. airlines Southwest and American Airlines are both making naloxone available on their planes. 
As the summer gets closer, safety in the festival space is key. The hope is for Insomniac Events to be one of many event hosts making life-saving resources more available. The more resources available, the more that more education can happen about overdose safety and drug addiction.
