Spain Will Enforce €10,000 Fine to Ibiza Tourists Without Accommodation

If you’re traveling to Ibiza, Spain, for a dance music event As a Tourist, you’ll want to make sure to follow these new accommodation rules to avoid hefty fines. 

A new travel advisory rule in Spain will slap tourists with £8,000 in fines which is about USD 10,000 if they can not show accommodations when they enter the country. This goes for any city in Spain including Ibiza which is one of the biggest dance music destinations in the world. The rule stands for anyone without citizenship or legal residency rights in Spain. 

Spain wants tourists to show proof of accommodation in the form of a hotel, Airbnb, or hostel booking confirmation. You can also prove that you are visiting a holiday home or a second home in Spain.

If you are planning to stay with a friend or family member, they will have to give you an invitation letter that has to be applied for at the police station and costs about USD $100. The letter also can not be handwritten and appointments with police must be scheduled ahead of time. 

If the paperwork is not properly done then the host could receive £8,000 in fines. The host you’re staying with must be a citizen of Spain, an EU citizen living in Spain, or a non-EU citizen with legal residence in Spain. Tourists could also face €10,000 in fines if they stay in the country longer than the 90-day limit and the fines could also reach higher amounts in extreme situations.
