ODESZA and Yellow House released “Flaws in Our Design” on Friday, July 21, which includes six tracks. Yellow House is also known as Emile van Dango and is a South Africa-based musician.

The artists released a single called “Heavier” a few weeks before the release of the full album which they had been in collaboration for 5 years. The other tracks on the album include “Dissolved in a Daydream,” “Easy Money,” “Waiting Forever,” “Heavier,” “Undone,” and “Flaws in Our Design.”

ODESZA discovered Emile/Yellow House on SoundCloud and was immediately drawn to his voice and delivery. They worked on a few demos together which ended up being successful. This led to ODEZSA flying Yellow House over from South Africa to work with them in their Seattle studio.

The two could tell their collaboration had unmistakable energy. They said they were drawn to a unique blend of electronic production and Emile’s incredible ability to create nostalgic melodies and storytelling lyrics. This led to them creating a number of tracks and exploring various different combinations of the two worlds.

ODEZSA has explained “Flaws in Our Design” as “Summer” when asked how he would describe it in one word. ODESZA’s first EP was released in 2013 and is called “My Friends Never Die” including tracks like “Without You,” “Keep Her Close,” “If There’s Time,” and “Home.”

If you want to catch ODEZSA live, their The Last Goodbye 2023 Tour is in full swing. I remember hearing Edm for the first time and thinking I knew this type of music would change my life. I love all genres and the art that goes behind it all. You can catch me dancing to a wide range of tunes.
