Nevada Police Crash Through Climate Protest Causing Burning Man Traffic Delays

Burning man traffic delays were exacerbated due to climate protests, and the Nevada Tribal Rangers, the Reservation police organization, put a stop to the theatrics.

In a video posted to Twitter earlier this week, a Nevada Tribal Rangers vehicle was pictured plowing through a group of protestors. The activists were allegedly protesting climate change around the area where Burning Man is held. According to Vox, the festival produces about 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

At the beginning of the video, it’s apparent that the demonstration was holding up traffic, including RVs and other vehicles. As it progressed, the video showed a truck running over multiple signs that were blocking the road. One of the signs was decorated like planet Earth with the words, “BURNERS OF THE WORLD UNITE.” There is a second sign with the words, “GENERAL STRIKE” visible but the rest of the sign is illegible from the video.

Several people, presumably protestors, were sitting and standing around the display at the time the Rangers took down the blockade. At least one of the people is visibly chained to the display and taken down when the truck drives through the blockade.

As the video progresses, it’s apparent at least one of the protestors was arrested by the officer. The officer is seen pinning the person to the ground and handcuffing them. Watch the full video below:

Another source reported that the group of climate protestors was disrupting festivalgoers attempting to enter Burning Man in Black Rock, Nevada. With the help of the Nevada Rangers, the climate protestors were removed and the visitors were able to proceed to the festival.

Many people were in support of the Nevada Rangers’ decision to plow through the blockade. One person said, “How is blocking a line of traffic for hours beneficial for the environment?” Another said, “Go chain yourselves to your politicians private jets. We trying to get high and forget our high rent, low paying jobs for a week.”
