Paramore Cancels Upcoming Performances with Statement ‘See You in the Next Era’

A new statement confirms that Paramore have canceled upcoming performances at various festivals.

Paramore cancel upcoming festival performances in Mexico City, Bogotá, and São Paulo in a new social media statement. The statement claims the group is unable to perform, “due to unforeseen circumstances” ending the note by saying they will, “see you in the next era.”

This comes as a shock to some fans because there has been much speculation about the future of Paramore in the past few months. With their last album, ‘This Is Why’, the group fulfilled their contract with with Atlantic Records.

But, sources close to the band assured to Variety Magazine that the band wasn’t breaking up and they wiped their social media clean due to being free agents. Not only was the band’s social media wiped, but Hayley Williams was too, as well as their website, which delivers a 404 error upon entry.

Another reason why fans were speculating a disbandment was due to an Instagram story from the band which spoke of an “uncertainty” to the future of Paramore. “Now that Paramore has spent the year touring behind This Is Why (and making sure to take better care of themselves while they’re at it), a chapter of the band’s career has come to a close. They’ve now fulfilled all label obligations and are effectively free agents. As for the future of Paramore, all three members agreed that there’s a level of uncertainty,” they wrote.

While the story threw some people off, it also included a link to their interview with UPROXX, which featured the quote in full, that added to the end saying, “But one thing’s for sure — they’re still going to be together, and they’re still going to keep having fun. “The only thing that matters is we will still get to be each other’s community,” Williams said. Farro agreed: “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world.”

While Paramore cancel upcoming festival shows, the trio still plans on attending Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour as the openers for her European leg. With a total of 48 European shows that the band has agreed to, there is still plenty of Paramore left for the future.
