Defected Records Artist and House Music Icon Kathy Brown Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer

Defected Records’ house music icon Kathy Brown has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer as her daughter launched a fundraiser campaign.

Defected Records has shared a piece of disheartening news this week about the legendary house music icon Kathy Brown, who has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Her daughter, Latisha has released an official statement to reveal that “the news came as a total shock” and the disease has already spread to her brain.

She further shared that “the news is only just sinking in as they are already facing the harsh reality of what this means.” Regarding the “physical and medical challenges” that come with the medical condition, Latisha also expressed her heartfelt sentiments for her mother, who has “poured her heart and soul onto stages and dance floors all over the world for more than thirty years.”

Petitioning for the fans to show their love and support, Latisha initiated a fundraiser to cope with the medical expenses and monthly bills which are “overwhelming.” She also opened up about the financial burden that comes with the inability to perform live, saying that “most artists who have devoted their careers to dance music, without being able to perform LIVE have no chance of earning an income.”

With a career spanning over two decades, Kathy Brown’s contribution to the house music scene has been monumental. Her legacy in Defected Records will leave a lasting impact on the world of music as she will be remembered for her integral role in some of the label‘s most significant releases. This unfortunate news serves as a timely reminder of the profound connections that come with music.

Latisha expressed her heartfelt gratitude for all the support in her closing note, sharing that “my mom deserves the best care and comfort that money can buy. I know that she has thousands of fans all over the world who adore her voice and beautiful spirit.” We extend our well wishes to Kathy in this difficult time and stand in collective hope for her recovery and well-being.
