NYC Mayor Eric Adams to “Take Action” Against Avant Gardner Owner After EZoo Debacle

After a chaotic weekend, the NYC mayor has decided to take action against Avant gardner’s owner for the EZoo incident.

This year, Electric Zoo Festival was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that many festival goers and onlookers hope to never witness again. Things took a left turn so hard, that even NYC Mayor Eric Adams said he would “take action” against Avant Gardner’s owner after the entire debacle that occurred.

After canceling day one of the festival and promising to issue refunds for all Friday ticket holders, the festival still began late on Saturday at 3 p.m., with the main stage still not being open for a couple of hours afterward. But what really had the NYPD and Mayor up in arms was the fact that Avant Gardner decided to oversell the festival by 7,000 tickets for its Sunday production.

According to Gothamist.com, there were “an estimated 1,500 ticket holders crashing the gates Sunday evening after the event reached capacity before they got inside.” Mayor Adams said to the NYPD during a briefing this past Tuesday, “It’s unfortunate that the organizers wanted to turn our city into a zoo, and we were not going to allow that to happen.”

These statements from the Mayor about Avant Gardner are in a completely different tone than they were back in March when he responded to a Gothamist.com report. He stood behind the company saying, “I’ve said it over and over again: the backbone of this city really focuses on small businesses. If someone comes to our office because they need assistance, we are going to give them the legal assistance that they need.”

This was the first year that Avant Gardner overtook Electric Zoo in running the festival, which ended up in chaos for all three days the event was supposed to take place. In the video on X above, festival-goers were trying to get into the venue for over four hours on Saturday, with no luck in being let in.

With the frustrations of not being let in for days, there were people who stormed the gates on Sunday and barged through past security and into the festival grounds. It’s unclear what kind of action Mayor Adams will be taking at this time, but after all the video evidence of what went on, there will hopefully be an update from his team and the NYPD soon.
