Techno Duos Adriatique and Mathame Return to Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner for a Melodic Takeover

The Swiss duo Adriatique is making their Avant Gardner return this Friday alongside Italian brothers, Amedeo and Matteo Giovanelli, known by the stage name Mathame.

As we are just weeks away from the grand reopening of the country’s best outdoor venue, The Brooklyn Mirage, there is no better way to prepare than with a melodic techno showcase from some of the genre’s most talented producers inside Avant Gardner’s Great Hall. On Friday, April 14, brother duo Mathame and Swiss DJs Adriatique will take the stage to perform their hotly-tipped back-to-back show at the unmatched Bushwick venue.

Both Mathame and Adriatique have spent the better part of the last two decades refining their sounds and have reached near perfection, garnering support from industry giants Tale of Us and their beloved label and concert series, Afterlife.

Pandemic aside, 2020 was a massive year for the Mathame brothers, as they topped the charts with one of their breakout singles “Never Give Up.” From the solitude in their town of residence, Mount Etna, Italy, to the most impressive stages across the globe, Mathame is on the fast track to international acclaim. The enchanting Mount Etna lies on the edge of an active volcano and has served as immense inspiration for the brother’s rich musical style.

“It’s a magical place. We have this big view on the termina. You get to see the forest. You feel the volcano all the time, rumbling. We stayed there for five years,” Matteo once told Resident Advisor.

It was in the remoteness and high elevation that two of Mathame’s most iconic singles were created, “Skywalking” and “Nothing Around Us”, launching the duo into the international domain. When it comes to touring, the pair channels their passion for science fiction and technology into not only their music but the overall production of their performances. Their mix series, launched in 2021, utilizes artificial intelligence using a custom AI machine that generates their “hyper-expressionism” imagery.

Swiss producers Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer have changed the game with their project Adriatique, after spending over a decade refining their incomparable sound for the melodic techno space. The pair consistently put on breathtaking performances, as they slowly build momentum before hitting a full eruption of hypnotic beats, setting the crowd ablaze.

This weekend both acts return to Avant Gardner with support from Brooklyn’s Julya Karma. There are only a few tickets remaining to see these four legends play, so make sure to get yours now!
