Insomniac Forced to Cancel Debut Edition of Interstellar Due to Rare California Hurricane

Interstellar Festival has been cancelled after CAlifornia AUTHORITIES urge a warning for approaching hurricane hilary.

It seems as though the cosmic forces haven’t aligned in favor of the debut of Insomniac’s inaugural Interstellar festival, as Hurricane Hilary poses a major threat to the area. From recent earthquakes to now the approaching storm coming from Mexico – local authorities have decided that the upcoming weather conditions in California suggest a significant risk to the festival grounds.

Hurricane Hilary has been tormenting the West Coast with powerful winds, rains, and threatening catastrophic floods. With the festival’s location literally on the waterfront, the impact of Hurricane Hilary is forecasted to have significant risks for not just the festival grounds but for the people living in the area as well.

The team behind the festival wrote in a statement to let fans know, “Our priority, above all, is the safety and well-being of everyone involved – our cherished attendees, talented artists, and dedicated staff.” Although many are saddened by the news – there has been support from fans that were planning on attending the festival.

DJs scheduled to perform also added comments on the Instagram post about their thoughts and feelings about the festival’s cancellation. Innellea wrote, “Oh s***t, was so looking forward! So so sorry to hear!” as well as Miss Monique saying, “Such sad news! So sorry for all the work done by the team and the people who planned to come 🥺 Stay safe 🙏.”

Later in their statement, the team touched on the fact that it is “undeniably disappointing” that the festival will no longer be taking place this weekend. The team looks forward to the day when they can unleash the magic of Interstellar to the world. Though the debut is delayed – the festival goers can expect news in the future about relocation and reimbursement.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
