deadmau5 Says Goodbye to his 16-Year-Old Cat and “Best Friend” Meowingtons

Deadmau5’s mourned his very last moments with his beloved cat and best friend Meowingtons due to him having some medical issues.

Meowintons was 16 years old when deadmau5 had to be put down on Wednesday and he has expressed devastation over having to let go of his best friend. The news about Meowingtons was posted by deadmau5 in a lengthy paragraph on Instagram where he explained that he is heartbroken in having to say goodbye. deadmau5 said he would usually keep stuff private, but because Meowingtons had touched so many lives, he felt it was necessary to share an update.

The dance music legend added that he knows he is not the only person in the world to deal with the death of a pet, but that losing Meowingtons is hurting him more than he ever expected. With that being said, deadmau5 also said he will be taking a small break to navigate his cat’s passing.

In his post, he broke down his thoughts and feelings about Meowington saying: “I don’t even know to even begin writing this. Like, I don’t even need to write this? I’ll keep it short, coz I f*****g can’t right now. Yeah, Meowingtons is just a f****n cat, but I’ll just say to me, he’s one of my best friends. I don’t say this casually. 16 years. He was my peace and quiet from the beginning of this f*****g batshit crazy rollercoaster career… the entire ride.”

deadmau5 explained that Meowingtons had been with him through everything and through all his different aspects of life. He insisted that Meowingtons was his peace amongst the chaos of his life and career. deadmau5 loved nothing more than coming home to his best friend.

Adding: “No matter how f*****g exhausted, frustrated, depressed, stressed, the f**k out I’ve been, there he is. Being the first person, I see when I get home from some crazy flight and lugging my bags into the front door. Watching his f****n little floor duster wobble while he comes to welcome me home. The first person I see in the morning, and the last one I see at night when I’m ready to f****n clock out on the bed.”

Meowingtons was truly a special cat, and deadmau5 fans could always feel how much his cat meant to him. deadmau5 would constantly share photos of Meowingtons on his socials over the 16-year span of his life, a concept that correlates with how long deadmau5 has been making music.
