RL Grime Unveils Third Album ‘Play’ and Fall North American Tour Dates

RL Grime announces the dates for his North American tour a day after breaking the news of his third studio album “Play.”

RL Grime’s new album PLAY is set to be “a revolutionary new format” in his discography. Divided into three separate and individual experiences, the album represents new takes on RL Grimes’s signature sound. Featuring 21 songs, each experience will have 7 songs that represent entirely different sound realms.

Under the umbrella of PLAY comes three worlds, “Apex,” “Grid,” and “Rush.” The three concepts are described as distinctive worlds that will transport listeners on a singular journey while promising to change the way they hear volume.

After posting a series of videos on Instagram, RL Grime left a few easter eggs for his fans – giving them a glimpse of what they can expect from his junior album. It was uncovered that the new album will take listeners on a journey to three different worlds. Each world will be different from the next. Listeners are meant to view APEX, GRID, and RUSH as three different albums within the release.

This upcoming album has created a massive buzz from his fans all over the world, as PLAY comes a mere 5 years after his last studio album, “Nova” which dropped in 2018.

The imagery of the album replicates a retro-themed video game format, as it invites listeners to pick and play whichever concept they please. The immersive experience places the power in the listener’s hands as they can choose what soundtrack they want to listen to on any occasion. The album is meant for the listeners to have complete control.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
