Pasquale Rotella Shares Heartfelt Message Following Beyond Wonderland Tragedy

Pasquale Rotella shares a heartwarming message this week regarding the shooting at BEyond WOnderland Two weeks ago.

Pasquale Rotella, the found of Insomniac, took to Instagram to speak out regarding the shooting that happened at Beyond Wonderland two weeks ago. On June 17th, a shooter shot at festival-goers inside the campgrounds. The festival’s second day was soon after canceled and the Insomniac Instagram pages remained quiet.

This shooting was an absolute tragedy, however, with multiple other Insomniac-produced festivals approaching such as Electric Forest and Day Trip LA, both held last weekend, Insomniac and Rotella’s Instagram remained quiet.

A few days ago, Rotella broke his silence with a heartfelt post that shared his grief along with crucial information regarding what is next. He wrote, “During the weekend, I received an overwhelming amount of warmth from family, friends, artists, headliners, and many amazing people I had the chance to meet. Your hugs and heartfelt messages meant a lot to me. As I reflected on the events that unfolded, I brought my kids Rainbow and Forest with me to EF, and I was grateful to spend quality time with them before flying to Day Trip on Sunday. This weekend really helped put me in a healthy mindset, and I felt a profound connection to the community everywhere I went.”

Knowing that Insomniac is his pride and joy, as well as a crucial player in the EDM community, it was important to hear right from the festival creator his sympathies. In addition, a go-forward plan. We saw that security was increased at Electric Forest last weekend and a step in the right direction toward a new standard of safety at festivals.

Rotella commented that he kept his silence for the respect of everyone involved and impacted. As they begin to roll out more posts, it is the acknowledgment that the events at Beyond Wonderland will not be forgotten.

Rotella has created a community within a community and recognizes that, saying, “For those that attended @beyondwlandpnw, refund information will be available soon as we are just finalizing the logistics of giving the option to receive a full refund or donate to the victim’s families. While we will resume posting, we have not taken this situation lightly. It’s not about moving on, but rather about reinforcing the importance of unity and togetherness. These values keep the spirit of our community alive for those who need it. Thank you all for coming together, regardless of where you joined us, and for making this weekend so special during a difficult time.”

The EDM community is strong, resilient, and supportive. May this be the stepping-stone to spreading the motto of PLUR to the people!

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
