Datsik Drops New Album Despite Sexual Assault Allegations

Datsik is back with a new album after years of silence and disappearing following sexual assault allegations against him.

After keeping a low profile since 2018, the dubstep artist recently released “Afterlife” and says it marks a new chapter moving forward. Datsik said in past he wanted to take some time to do some major soul-searching and figure out how he can better himself and make smarter life choices following the allegations. Now, he says he is happy to be back with support from fans and has much more to come.

“Afterlife” consists of eight tracks – “Pulse,” “Deaf Before Dishonor,” “Mental Health,” “Year of the Dragon,” “Nightshade,” “Virtues,” “In the Dark,” and ‘Shut it Down.” Datsik stuck to his usual dubstep ways in “Afterlife” resembling his past beloved sound. The album cover displays a tree with pink leaves with snow on the ground with an overall purple haze which seems to represent an alternate universe or “afterlife.”

Datsik made the announcement on Instagram and his fans seemed thrilled for the most part. Some responded saying “Love you sm. So proud” “The King has returned, well happy for you Troy!” and “Let’s goo!! Ninjas where you at?” while others couldn’t help but confront the elephant in the room and said: “If he’s coming back, should we expect Bassnectar to make a comeback as well? Just asking.” Referring to sexual allegations against Bassnectar and his exit from the industry as well.

Datsik allegations

The ninja-inspired DJ released a lengthy video statement about the situation in 2018 but was called out for not actually acknowledging what happened or apologizing. Datsik was accused of taking advantage of drunk women on his tour bus and having his team hand out signs that said “tulsa” which reads “a slut” backward. This was seen as a real disgrace to how he treated female fans.

All the allegations against him led his agency and management company Deckstar and Circle Talent Agency to drop him. Now, it is unclear if he is back with an agency or has released the music solo. Overall, there still seems to be mixed feelings about Datsik making a comeback following the harsh allegations of his disrespect towards women but he is trying.

I remember hearing Edm for the first time and thinking I knew this type of music would change my life. I love all genres and the art that goes behind it all. You can catch me dancing to a wide range of tunes.
