Dubstep DJ Svdden Death Drops Massive House Music Mix

Svdden Death releases a surprise new mix, Deadroom, on his Soundcloud featuring something abnormal from the artist, house music.

Oh, the irony! Svdden Death labels himself as EDM’s most prominent house music hater but surprises everyone with his latest SoundCloud mix. On February 11th, the artist commonly known for his grime dubstep moves from heavy bass to those classic house beats. So, is Svdden Death moving his talents to the house music scene or just mocking house music with his latest release?

Svdden Death, whose real name is Danny Howland, is an American DJ and producer known for his heavy dubstep and bass music. He first gained recognition in the bass music scene with his remix of NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s “Warning,” which quickly went viral. Since then, he has released several successful EPs and singles. While also performing at major music festivals such as EDC Las Vegas and Lost Lands. Svdden Death is known for his unique and heavy sound, which often incorporates distorted basslines, aggressive synths, and intricate drum patterns. He is a notable figure in the bass music community and continues to push the genre forward with his innovative productions and high-energy live performances.

But with his rise in success, he gave us a glimpse into a new sector – House Music. The artist commonly comments on his hate for house music. Also, he proclaimed himself as the biggest house hater in the EDM scene. But, maybe he really is a fan since he just gave us a taste of his house tracks in his SoundCloud mix, Deadroom Showcase 2023.

Svdden Death created Deadroom Showcase 2023 featuring fourteen minutes of his version of house music. Although this is labeled as a house mix, you can still hear glimpses of the dubstep artist’s unique tones. The mix starts off with a heavy four-on-the-floor beat accompanied by various drums and hats. Towards the middle, the mix starts to get a little funky. You hear sounds of distorted lasers then a strong build-up into a heavy bassline beat. Finally, to close off the set we get more of a melodic techno sound, similar to one you would hear by an artist such as i_o. Truly a perfect ending to the house mix.

This mix was definitely a shock to many! But, fans seem to take a liking to it. One fan commented “I loved the whole thing. I feel like I’m in that opening scene from the movie blade-and I mean that in the best way possible.” You can listen to this dubstep artist turn house below!

My name is Emilee Gabbard. I currently live in sunny Orange County, CA. By day I am a project manager working in the aerospace industry, but by night a music blogger for yours truly, Exron Music! I have been writing for Exron Music for around eight months now and cannot wait to see what is to come throughout the years. At festivals and clubs, you will find me at any house and techno stage supporting my favorites Eli Brown or Dom Dolla, or belting every word to Porter Robinson tracks wherever he performs.
