What So Not Reveals Immersive New Rave Experience Called Anomaly

What So Not prepares to bring a unique new virtual reality experience to fans with his announcement of Anomaly.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be fully immersed in the mind of your favorite artists’ vision? What if you could experience more than just visuals and lasers when your favorite song drops? If you instead were transformed into a virtual reality surrounding you with the artist’s vision. Well, What So Not has some exciting news for all of us with his latest project! On January 9th, What So Not announced his brand new experience called Anomaly.

Anomaly is something that could be the start of the future of raves. It is a concept solely by the Australian DJ and producer, What So Not. What So Not is no new name to the Electronic Dance Music scene. What So Not is a highly well-known and talented electronic music project by Australian record producer “Emoh”. Christopher John Emerson, What So Not’s real name, has toured the world. He played at some of the largest festivals. These include Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Pukkelpop, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza.

You surely know plenty of songs by him as well. His most known tracks are his remix for RÜFÜS DU SOL’s euphoric classic Innerbloom, “Gemini” featuring George Maple, “Jaguar”, “High You Are” and “Tell Me” with RL Grime. He has plenty of success with his features on Australian Singles Char and Triple J Hottest 100, while also receiving awards for his tracks throughout the years. He released his debut album titled Not All the Beautiful Things back in March 2018 with his latest sophomore album “Anomaly” released on 16 September 2022.

What So Not is a name many people from the scene dating back to 2016 know fairly well. His Innerbloom Remix was on repeat for many. COVID was a rough time for us all and led everyone into a unique headspace to reflect. And, even though What So Not stepped away from music his mind continued to think of new ideas. With his return in 2022, he had big ideas, and Anomaly made his vision a reality. An anomaly is defined as something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected, which is exactly what What So Not is giving us with this new immersive experience.

He mentioned that “when he was making Anomaly he had a vision of how people could experience music like never before.” He also reflects on “how much has life changed since 2019!? It’s been a journey for us all and mine has brought me to this moment; unveiling here to you what I have been deep inside for over 3 yrs.” With years of preparation and hard work, Anomaly is coming to life for fans across the United States. You can catch one of his immersive sets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, and Las Vegas starting next month! Until then, you can take a journey through What So Not’s Anomaly album below.

My name is Emilee Gabbard. I currently live in sunny Orange County, CA. By day I am a project manager working in the aerospace industry, but by night a music blogger for yours truly, Exron Music! I have been writing for Exron Music for around eight months now and cannot wait to see what is to come throughout the years. At festivals and clubs, you will find me at any house and techno stage supporting my favorites Eli Brown or Dom Dolla, or belting every word to Porter Robinson tracks wherever he performs.
