John Summit breaks down in tears during EDC Las Vegas b2b with Green Velvet

EDC Las Vegas 2024 ended with a sunrise set from John Summit and Green Velvet that was special for both the artists and the fans.

Another beautiful EDC Las Vegas has come and gone, and this year’s edition was closed out by a tremendous treat for house heads at Kinetic Field. Perpetual headline-maker John Summit and legendary DJ Green Velvet put on a sunrise b2b set for the ages to send everyone home for the year with one last party.

John Summit has posted on social media to reminisce on the special experience with one of his house music heroes. On X (formerly Twitter), he posted a video of Green Velvet consoling him as he got emotional during the set, writing that “my man green velvet has always been there for me.. closing edc a dream come true.” On Instagram, he posted that video alongside several other clips from the set with the caption, “we brought chicago to the main stage and felt the love for real.”

Green Velvet and John Summit have a hometown connection in addition to the house music connection, both hailing from Chicago, Illinois. The two have played sets together a few times before at festivals such as iii Points Miami 2023 and EDC Orlando 2022 alongside another house legend in Dom Dolla. This particular b2b set seemed to be extra special and emotional to John as the duo closed out the main stage at one of the biggest and most iconic dance music festivals in the world, EDC Las Vegas.

John Summit also played a solo set at Circuit Grounds on day one of the festival, a stage he’s played before in years past both alone and alongside Subtronics. Green Velvet’s only set of the weekend was the b2b with Summit, the Kinetic Field debut for both DJs at EDC Las Vegas.
