Who is Honey Dijon?

Legendary producer and DJ Honey Dijon has been a music Industry pioneer, Diversity Advocate, and LGBTQ activist in the house music scene since the 1990s.

Honey Dijon is a renowned American DJ, producer, and electronic music artist who has been paving the way for herself in the scene since the early 1990s as a DJ and later became a producer in the early 2000s. Born in Chicago, she has gained international status for her contributions to the house and techno music scenes.

Honey Dijon is known for her unique blend of various genres, incorporating elements of house, techno, disco, and more into her music. She has played at major music festivals and clubs around the world, including the legendary Berlin nightclub, Berghain.

In addition to her notable shows at Berghain, she has also played some electric sets at other noteworthy venues and events. Honey Dijon has ber own Boiler Room set that took place in Sugar Mountain, in Melbourne. Her insane talent has aided in the YouTube stream of her eclectic set to have over 10 Million views since 2018.

She has two studio albums, with her sophomore album, ‘Black Girl Magic,’ becoming a staple in other house DJ’s sets around the globe. She has worked with Beyonce on her ‘Renaissance’ album which quickly topped the charts and won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album of 2023. On top of that, she worked with LATASHÁ and Cor.Ece on the music video for their song ‘Don’t Be Afraid,’ where all proceeds went to the YouTube Black Voices Fund to further the careers of fellow black artists.

Not only is she an incredibly talented artist with an extensive discography, but she is also frequently recognized for her advocacy work within the music industry and nightlife scene. As a black transwoman herself, she often addresses and seeks to promote the need for acceptance, inclusivity, and diversity issues in the music world.

As an advocate for LGBTQ rights, she frequently performs at Pride events around the world. A few years in 2017, back she played at the world-renowned Museum of Modern Art as part of their summer sessions. During these spoken sessions, which were called “Between 0 and 1: Remixing Gender, Technology, and Music,” she sat down to discuss how gender fluidity and the ever-changing ways of technology affect their lives and careers in the music scene.

For Honey Dijon, her sound is a way of creative expression and the security that she has found within the nightlife scene. As a revolutionary artist who continues to push the boundaries of the sometimes exclusive music industry, she remains a powerhouse of talent, acceptance advocacy for others.
