ONYVAA Hits Charlotte de Witte’s Sub-Label RPM with New Lean Techno EP ‘Valley Of Fire’

ONYVAA’s new EP, ‘Valley Of Fire’, is a full techno tour de force that has fans taken in for a hypnotic ride.

The LA and Paris-based producer brings it to the table with her first official release for Charlotte de Witte’s new sub-label RPM. ONYVAA’s new EP, ‘Valley Of Fire’, is an example of how the artist approaches a less-is-more approach in her music.

ONYVAA is a diverse musical talent who has been taking the electronic music scene on for the past few years. Developing her sound in Paris and quickly reaching milestones to make her name globally in the techno circuit, she’s been performing at KNTXT events all over the world. Her sets are energetic and influenced by sounds of Detroit, Chicago, and early 90’s acid warehouse techno.

“Don’t Ever Stop” starts the EP off with a lean uptempo techno, before the title track takes an even more spare and meticulous approach with an arpeggiated synth over a brooding breakbeat. The EP closes off with the trance-like “Vision Quest”, which provides subtle handclaps and a hypnotic vocal sample over a spacey, ambient percussion arrangement.

Many artists release music with the intent of having a specific goal for what they want their fans to hear and show the growth they’ve made from previous releases. When commenting on the EP, ONYVAA says, “I’ve had transformative experiences over the last two years where I have grown and evolved in my being, where my eyes, mind, and heart are open to infinite forms of expression through music. This EP embodies those themes and is the beginning of a new chapter in my artistry.”

Belgian techno artist Charlotte de Witte launched the new sub-label, RPM, late last year through her flagship KNTXT imprint to inspire and build velocity around emerging talent. With the release of ONYVAA’s EP on the new sub-label, she comments on the release saying, “Very proud to announce the long-awaited return from ONYVAA! After her Lost Angeles EP in 2021, she’s been a very frequent guest at KNTXT events all over the world. She’s a beautiful person inside and out and I couldn’t be more happy with the three bangers she provided in her signature style for her new EP on the label. Welcome back, Shelbs!”

RPM is a kind of label that provides artists with a more agile, digital-only platform to release music. This provides a flexible environment for producers to experiment with contemporary sounds, free from the latency in vinyl production.
