CLIMAX Changes Top Chart Game with Groundbreaking Algorithm To Rank DJ Releases Based on Real-Time Data

Billboard Hot 100, step aside: CLIMAX celebrates the launch of the first ever DJ Top 100 chart based on 100% real data, thanks to its new algorithm.

Electronic dance music, at its core, is a global community reaching all corners of the world–a feat that’s pretty spectacular and also nearly unquantifiable. With so many platforms, outlets, artists, venues, and content, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s who on the international EDM stage–and where your personal fave ranks against other legends.

This is an issue of the past, however, thanks to CLIMAX’s groundbreaking new algorithm that uses real-time data to rank the world’s most influential DJs. The algorithm takes social media metrics, Beatstats scores, and streaming figures into account to determine this list, pulling data from 11 different platforms using 15 different parameters.

The data used for this year’s CLIMAX Top 100 was pulled from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022, ensuring that it’s the most comprehensive look at DJ representation from around the globe. The 2023 top 10, in order, are David Guetta, Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Marshmello, Alan Walker, DJ Snake, Diplo, Skrillex, Robin Shulz, and Martin Garrix.

For those with a numbers-oriented mind: CLIMAX’s website delves into the specifics of its algorithm, including the way in which the data was accessed, the parameters used (such as Instagram and Spotify followers gained and likes obtained), and the weight each parameter held in the algorithm.

CLIMAX announced the launch of its new algorithm during its debut Miami Music Week event at OKAMI Miami, which included a short presentation followed by an awards ceremony and an after-party. #48 Top 100 DJ Majestic performed along with DJs Leandro Da Silva and Ayko, while #35 Hugel was also present to accept his award.

“As a DJ, it’s important for me to know that my rankings are based on objective and real data,” Hugel explained. “It’s great to see how the Climax technology is now able to provide such an accurate reflection of the global music scene. Being part of the Climax Top 100 global chart is truly an honor for me as a DJ.”

“Climax represents a new era in the music industry,” the CLIMAX team added. “We’re thrilled to see how the music industry is embracing Climax and its innovative approach to ranking DJs based on real data. We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from DJs ranked within the top 100, who have expressed their enthusiasm for a chart that truly reflects the significance they have on the global music scene.”

CLIMAX brings comprehensive transparency and accuracy to the global EDM scale to an extent that has never been seen before. To learn more about their groundbreaking work (and view the entire 2023 Top 100 DJ chart), check out the CLIMAX website and social media.
