12th Planet Returns to Festival Circuit at Forbidden Kingdom After Sexual Assault Allegations

Despite recent sexual assault allegations made against him, dubstep DJ and producer 12th Planet is making his way back into the festival scene.

In late 2021, a photographer named Grim made a series of allegations against three DJs with budding careers in the dance music space. Grim accused Trampa of rape and 12th Planet and Gammer of sexual assault all on separate occasions. The allegations were shared in a single post via Twitter, and all have had serious implications on the artists’ respective careers.

All of the artists involved have broken their silence besides Trampa, who has yet to publicly comment on the accusations. Although 12th Planet took two months to address Grim’s claims, he claims that he failed to do so because he “didn’t want to draw attention to these bizarre and untrue claims.”

12th Planet denied the sexual assault allegations made against him in an Instagram post. “All four of us ended up falling asleep in the same room for a few hours. She [Grim] and I were fully clothed at all times. We never hooked up,” he wrote.

During the time that fans were waiting for a statement from the DJ, he had been quietly removed from at least one festival lineup. However, after he publicly addressed and subsequently denied the claims, he began to secure festival bookings again.

12th Planet just recently performed at Forbidden Kingdom in what appears to be his first festival since those allegations came to light. The artist had a huge crowd turnout, however, some still protested his performance on social media. One Tweet reads, “I can’t wait to see 12th Planet at FK this weekend!!! Im gonna empty out every Publix of eggs and tomatoes and just launch them at him while he plays :)”

Next up as far as festivals for 12th Planet is Electric Forest. He remains on the lineup poster despite the efforts of some fans who are advocating to have him removed.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
