Lost Lands Explains Why Full Festival Sets are Only Available on Apple Music

Lost Lands has partnered with Apple Music for a second year to upload select DJ sets on the streaming platform.

The prehistoric-themed festival Lost Lands took place in September and has recently released its 2023 Live Sets on Apple Music. Having partnered with Apple Music in 2022, Lost Land explained to its loyal bass fans why these sets are only available on Apple Music.

Lost Lands is one of the biggest bass music festivals hosted in Legend Valley, Ohio. Created by bass icon Excision in 2017, the festival has been gaining popularity with its one-of-a-kind experience that takes attendees back 65 million years. Even if you missed the bass festival this year, you can catch up with over 20 live sets on Lost Lands’ Apple Music page.

Lost Lands 2023 featured a heavy lineup with sets from Svdden Death, Sub Focus, Subtronics, and many others. While the lineup had hundreds of artists, only 28 mixes were featured on Apple Music.

In a recent X post, Lost Lands spoke on its reasoning for working with Apple Music. In the post, they mention that Apple Music works with other major festivals (i.e. ARC and EDC) to process the DJ sets and ensure that all the artists played in the set get their royalties. This is beneficial for the festivals as Apple Music takes the pressure off the artists/uploaders.

Processing DJ sets, identifying rights, and paying artists their royalties is no easy feat. If not done correctly, it can be an endless battle of sets getting taken off platforms. By having Apple Music take over these responsibilities, the process of posting DJ sets on streaming platforms becomes streamlined.

Lost Lands has become a staple in the festival circuit for good reason. As a high-production festival with hard-hitting sets from bass icons, they have cemented themselves as a must-go. Even if you missed your favorite DJ’s set this past September, you can stream their live set on Apple Music.
