Summer Camp Announces New Festival Concept for 2024 – Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie

The Summer Camp festival in the Midwest has introduced a new concept called Solshine scheduled to take place in May of 2024.

The Midwest’s popular camping festival, Summer Camp, has announced a significant transformation after being the favorite of its kind for over two decades. The organizers have presented a new festival concept called ‘Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie’. The event is scheduled from Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the enchanting Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois. 

Summer Camp Music Festival has been running for an impressive 22 years. During that time it has become a staple in the US festival scene. It started with only 2,000 attendees in 2001 but grew to over 25,000 in 2023. The festival is unique for many reasons, but its lineups are always a huge deal. From hosting a diverse array of acts like genre-defying artists Skrillex, Tom Petty, and The Smashing Pumpkins, this festival truly has something for everyone.

Ian Goldberg, the mastermind behind the franchise, has recently expressed his excitement for the festival’s evolution. When asked about the change he makes the following statement: “The spirit and community of Summer Camp will remain, but we are excited to push boundaries again. Summer Camp had evolved into much more than a music festival, it was a community centered around music and art. I wanted to recognize that in the name by not calling it a festival but a Reverie full of music and arts, such that we all can create our experience together – and have that build intentionality in our actions once we leave.”

The first-ever Summer Camp Solshine festival will take place at Three Sisters Park. This is a great location for so many reasons as the stunning al fresco park is well-known for its outstanding landscape and natural amphitheater. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to camp inside the park, which will enhance the sense of community that has been a significant part of the event’s identity. The event will feature various workshops, food and craft vendors, and activities that embody the spirit of Summer Camp and its welcoming atmosphere.
