Supertask Says Goodbye to Lab Group

Lab Group has lost another member as Supertask says goodbye to the supergroup.

Supertask has said goodbye to the beloved Lab Group he helped start two years ago in a new social media post. Even though his decision to leave is a shock to many fans, the response the producer has received has been very respectful.

The bass supergroup formed in 2021, fusing the sounds of Potions, Supertask, and the now-late Charlesthefirst. When ‘Lab Group I’ dropped, critics praised the group for having a forward-thinking approach to the bass music genre. Lab group delivered an EP with a fresh and new sound design the genre had been missing for a while.

Lab Group faced a personal loss back in 2021, the same year the group was formed, when CharlestheFirst tragically passed away on December 10th. After losing a group mate, Supertask and Potions had stated on social media the Lab Group would be used as “a vehicle for collaboration.”

In the announcement above, Supertask states he is leaving the group due to “personal, creative, and professional” growth options. Supertask has only released two tracks in the last two years, so focusing on his work as a solo artist will allow the producer to take his career further.

Supertask is set to host a New Year’s Eve party in Midtown Detroit that will take place at The Majestic. Doors for the event will open at 8 pm and end at 4 am, with support from different artists. Chief, Kaya, and Common Creation will take the stage, as well as local support from artists Major Arcana and Selyna Alvarez.

Recently, the producer teased a potential new collaboration with ESCPE on Instagram. While there hasn’t been any information about when new music would drop, Supertask released one last track with Lab Group that featured Ruku titled “Dripping” in August.
