MK and Dom Dolla Win ARIA Award for Smash Hit ‘Rhyme Dust’

MK and Dom Dolla have secured an ARIA award for their edgy summer hit.

Australian music producer Dom Dolla and American DJ MK have recently been awarded an Australian Recording Industry Association Music Award (ARIA) for Best Dance / Electronic Release for their smash hit ‘Rhyme Dust.’ With almost 75 million streams, it has become one of the most recognizable hits from the summer.

The track has that Dom Dolla ‘Take It’ essence with a super cool descant cooing, “Rhyme dust, I get my rhyme on dust… Guaranteed to make it right if your night is a bust.” Overall, the record is super catchy, a wonderful combination of Dom’s edgy, staccato beats and MK’s flow.

The ARIA Awards are an annual celebration of the Australian music industry, championed by the Australian Recording Industry Association. In general, artists are eligible for nomination if they’re members of the Australian Record Industry Association. The ARIA Awards have become highly revered and were first put on in 1986, making this November’s celebration the 36th annual award ceremony. Other winners from the ceremony were King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, DMA’s, Kylie Minogue, and Taylor Swift.

To celebrate the momentous achievement, MK took to Instagram to exclaim, “We won an ARIA, [Dom Dolla]! I love you, Australia.” Dom Dolla posted an Instagram series holding the award, having accepted it in person. During his acceptance speech, he regaled the audience with, “I just want to say how much of an honor it is to represent Aussie dance music overseas. There’s something in the water here and I always get asked in interviews what it is… I won’t tell them if you guys don’t.” After graciously thanking his team, Dom closed out his speech with, “F*** yeah!” which might explain his Instagram caption, “Got in a little trouble for swearing on national TV. Best dance release. We bloody did it, [MK]!”

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
