Chai Chang Unveils Exhilarating Electropop Debut Single ‘New Reality’

Chinese-Australian singer Chai Chang proves it’s never too late to redefine your reality. The 30-year-old Melbourne-based artist had enough of his banking lifestyle and embarked on a journey as a solo dance singer. His debut single, ‘New Reality,’ delves into the fascinating world of achieving fame through social media savvy.

Chai Chang’s journey began during his upbringing in Hong Kong, where he was always fascinated by music and fashion. Because of this, he has taken pride in adopting a unique appearance and an approachable personality. Furthermore, much of his inspiration for his fashion and new single, ‘New Reality,’ comes from singers in C-pop, K-pop, and Western music.

Growing up in Hong Kong, Cantonese was Chai Chang’s first language. Throughout his life, he found inspiration in C-pop and K-pop, and he desired to fuse these influences with English music. In ‘New Reality,’ Chang sings in both English and Mandarin. He knew learning English would be difficult, so he started preparing for the song in June 2022.

‘New Reality’ marks Chai Chang’s debut in the music scene. The song is a blend of electropop and dance-pop. The single is in English with a Mandarin rap in hopes of reaching a global audience. ‘New Reality’ explores the social media savvy and what they would do to attract mass attention and achieve fame.

‘New Reality’ opens with Chang singing the chorus, “so I’ll just swipe my life away,” before going into what the savvy indulges in on social media. By the end, Chai Chang has swiped his way into a new reality as he watches his life through the screen. To go with the release of ‘New Reality’ will be a new music video that captures a mixture of wavy dance moves, virtual production, and the scenery of Melbourne’s Central Business District.
