Drake Shocks Fans with Release of Electronic Album Featuring GORDO and Black Coffee

Drake surprises fans with the electronic album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ with collaborations from GORDO and Black Coffee.

On June 17, Drake surprised the world by releasing his 7th studio album, ‘Honestly, Nevermind’. The Canadian artist made the announcement for the album via Instagram to his 114 million followers.

As the album began playing across the world, fans quickly realized that this wasn’t your typical “Drake” album. The records have house music influences, which explains why some of dance music’s biggest names produced several songs.

Furthermore, the dance music producers that worked on the album include Black Coffee, GORDO (previously known as Carnage), and Keinemusik’s Rampa and &ME. GORDO collaborated on “Calling My Name,” “Sticky,” “Massive,” “Currents,” “Flight’s Booked,” and “Tie That Binds.”

Following the release, GORDO tweeted “I’m very honored and humbled to have produced 6 songs on the new Drake album, Honestly, Nevermind,” he continued “Thank you brother for trusting me and allowing me to be a part of the vision. I never factored this into the equation for the beginning of my next chapter, but thank you.”

In addition, Grammy-winning house music producer Black Coffee, who previously worked with Drake before on the hit record “Get it Together”, has contributed to three songs. His South African house and techno influences stand out within the album.

Finally, the last dance music contributions come from none other than Berlin-based Keinemusik collective members, Rampa and &ME. The two producers collaborated on “Falling Back” and “A Keeper”. Following the release, Drake posted a photo dump on his Instagram which included the producers’ collective name as the main photo.

Since its release, ‘Honestly Nevermind’ has become Apple Music’s biggest dance album in history due to breaking the platform’s record for first-day streams worldwide. According to Apple’s news release, the record only took one hour into the release to break.

‘Honestly, Nevermind’ is dedicated to the late Virgil Abloh.

My name is Sebastian Medina and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Ever since I could remember, I have always been in love with dance music. I appreciate all genres and sub-genres but I definitely gravitate towards house and techno. Being from LA I was blessed with an amazing nightlife full of different artists coming in and out of town throughout the years. Some of my favorite artists include Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Mr.Carmack, PAWSA, and Folamour.
