Mikey Lion Ends Up in Hospital After Scary Surfing Accident

Mikey Lion has shared a picture of him holding a thumbs-up at the hospital after a scary surfing accident.

A trip to the hospital hasn’t stopped Mikey Lion from taking the stage. On October 19, the Desert Hearts frontrunner shared a picture to his socials of him sporting a cheeky smile while holding a thumbs-up in a hospital bed. 

Just a day before playing Denver’s Mission Ballroom, Mikey Lion has revealed that he dislocated his shoulder in a frightening surfing accident. The San Diego native has posted a lengthy caption on Instagram detailing the incident along with confirmation that the injury has not held him back from performing with the Desert Hearts crew. 

Being vulnerable with his followers, Mikey Lion has explained he’s suffered from chronic dislocations and has dealt with this issue 20+ times throughout his life. However, this time has provoked a visit to the ER because he was unable to pop it back into place by himself. Showing up in a wetsuit and in significant pain, Mikey Lion had to sit in the hospital for over three hours with his shoulder out of socket. Eventually, they cut him out of his wetsuit and popped it back into place. 

But to no surprise, the producer’s highest concern was whether he’d be able to recover for The Desert Hearts Experience. In his Instagram post, Mikey Lion explained, “The whole time I was just thinking about our massive Desert Hearts party in Denver tomorrow night at Mission Ballroom and not wanting to miss it. Luckily as soon as it popped back in, my shoulder immediately felt better and they sent me on my way.” 

From the hospital to Denver in less than a day, Mikey Lion made it to the show. Following a back-to-back from experimental mastermind Justin Jay and Desert Hearts co-founder Lee Reynolds, he and the legendary Justin Martin closed out the event with a banging back-to-back. 

However, Mikey Lion has noted this hospital visit was only a temporary fix for his ongoing chronic dislocation problem. Unfortunately, surgery is in his near future if he wants to continue surfing and taking on high-intensity activities. But before Mikey Lion figures that out, he has made it clear that his priority is to play his upcoming dates in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Queens, Fort Lauderdale, and more.
