365 Days Star Michele Morrone Drops Second Studio Album ‘Double’ on Republic Records

Italian actor and singer Michele Morrone explores personal growth and coping with difficult emotions in new album ‘Double.’

Actor and model Michele Morrone, best known for his role as Massimo on the Netflix drama ‘365 Days’, released his second studio album, ‘Double,’ last week on Republic Records. Morrone began releasing music in 2020 and had several songs featured on the official ‘365 Days’ soundtrack. Following the 2020 release of his first album, ‘Dark Room,’ Morrone released seven singles over the next three years, all of which appear on the new 15-song project.

Produced and mixed by Danish producer Thomas Stengaard, ‘Double’ deploys a variety of instruments and song types to tell Michele’s story. Slow piano ballads like “Angels” and “Moara” balance out fast-paced club bangers like “Addicted” and “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” a cover of the classic Eurythmics song. Compositional creativity shines through in songs like ‘Sucker For You’ and ‘PUSH ME,’ the latter featuring a bed-squeak sample a la Drake.

The album tackles complicated issues like coming to grips with uncomfortable emotions and finding inner balance. “Double is an inner journey, in search of good and evil, that is inside me,” says Morrone. “Double defends fears, but it doesn’t denounce them, it wants to make them a weapon for the benefit of the person.”

Songs such as “All I Want,” “To Do List,” and the title track “Double” grapple with feelings of emptiness and yearning for joy. Much of the album is framed through the cycles of relationships and coping with lost love. “Puppet in Your Head” and “Player” discuss feeling controlled and manipulated by partners, while “I See Monsters” and “Another Day” long for past relationships and struggle to move on.

While Michele Morrone first began captivating audiences with his acting and modeling, ‘Double’ shows he can do so with his soulful vocals as well. Learn more about the multi-talented artist on his official website and stream the new album below.
