EXCLUSIVE: Rüfüs Du Sol to “Take Time Off” After 2-Year Surrender Tour

After two years of traveling globally for their Surrender tour, Rüfüs Du Sol ends run with an incentive for creating new MUSIC.

The last stop on Rüfüs Du Sol’s Summer ’23 North American tour was at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 12th. During their final show, the lead singer of the band Tyrone Lindqvist took the time between performing songs to interact with the crowd and share gratitude for the last two years. 

He informed attendees that after this tour, the trio will go back to their hometown in Australia and use this well-deserved time off to work on new music. He explained when the group started making music, it was because they were making it for themselves. After loving what they were producing they decided to share it with the world. The group shared an Instagram post show captioning it, “perfect way to end two years of touring Surrender – that was incredible. See you all soon.x “

This wasn’t all the information Tyrone spilled to the crowd. Before performing the track “Next to Me” off their latest album, he enlightened fans that the song was written for his wife on their wedding day. He told fans that he could barely get through the first performance without crying and hoped to sing it perfectly that night. To no one’s surprise, he effortlessly sang through the high-pitched and strenuous lyrics of the song. 

The rest of the night, the crowd roared in awe of the live performance as the group played live instruments supported by a light show that left fans amazed. It wouldn’t be a Rüfüs show without the element of serenity and bliss as the crowd was engulfed by trickling confetti not once, but twice during their songs, “Surrender” and “No Place.”

This marked the third time Rüfüs Du Sol has performed in Charlotte, but the difference between their first and most recent is substantial. First performing in 2017 at The Underground in Charlotte, North Carolina, they expressed on stage how they only played for a few hundred people at that time. Their most recent show had more than 8 thousand patrons in the crowd. 

The Surrender Tour accumulated over 500,000 tickets sold across North America, UK, and Europe legs of their tour and this summer was the end of their supreme run. Although the tour is over, Rüfüs Du Sol will still be playing a few gigs, the first being in October at Zamna Music Festival taking place in Mexico City. Then they will be ringing in the new year at a series of festivals in their hometown of Australia including Beyond The Valley Festival and Field Day Festival.
