The Weeknd Claims He’s Done With Features Unless Daft Punk Reunites

The Weeknd announces he will no longer be including features on tracks “unless daft punk get back together.”

Moments before performing his unreleased song “Another One of Me”, The Weeknd announced he will no longer entertain the idea of features when it comes to his musical endeavors. He shared a clip on Twitter revealing to fans that his new song will be the last collaboration he will be a part of… unless Daft Punk were ever to reunite again.

This announcement took place at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, Poland during The Weeknd’s After Hours Till Dawn Tour. Before performing, he revealed to the crowd that his new single will be “the last feature I ever do, ever in my career.” The video cuts off before fans get to hear who will be featured on this track, but they can have high expectations as he already has a strong roster of collaborations with artists like Swedish House Mafia.

While it isn’t clear if The Weeknd’s message means that he will only do a feature with Daft Punk or if he will resume collaborations when they reunite – we are happy to see Daft Punks’ name in the news again.

The Weeknd and Daft Punk teamed up in 2016 on the hit billboard tune “I Feel It Coming,” off his third studio album, Starboy. They later performed at the 2017 Grammy Awards but have not collaborated publicly since then. In an interview with Variety Magazine, The Weeknd highlights the importance Daft Punk has on his music as he reveals that they “are one of the reasons I make music.”

Since their split in 2021, Daft Punk has periodically teased fans with never before seen material. This includes a special edition of their fourth and final studio album, “Random Access Memories,” (arguably one of the most impactful albums in music to date). Their drops also included unreleased footage from live performances from over a decade ago and mystery coordinates to locations around the world.

Although it is no shock that The Weeknd is included in the many hearts that have been touched by the duo, he is a prime example of how strong the influence the pair has had in the music industry across all different genres. You can listen to the 10th anniversary edition of “Random Access Memories” below!

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
