Swedish House Mafia Release Emotional Ultra Music Festival ID “See The Light” with Fridayy

Electronic supergroup Swedish House Mafia lets us in to “see the light” with the release of their newest single.

Only house music legends Swedish House Mafia can make us grab a box of tissues while we dance uncontrollably. Their most recent single “See The Light,” featuring Philly-based rapper Fridayy, showcases their signature blend of emotional prowess, hypnotic dance beats, and multilayered vocals. Mix it all together and you’ve got a classic SHM track: nostalgic without being dated, hopeful, and just plain uplifting.

The track dropped on May 26 and is the first song to be released for EA Sports’ Formula 1 soundtrack LP. If the tune sounds familiar, you’re not crazy: The trio originally debuted the song at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami to the delight of fans around the world. In fact, many took to Instagram to express their love for the electronic supergroup’s Ultra set.

“died and writing this from heaven,” one user commented on SHM’s Ultra recap post, “you guys have the best energy always and you manage to transmit it in an out of this world way. got nothing but all the love in the world for you.” Another user wrote about how watching the set live from Sweden in the middle of the night was a “no-brainer when the MAFIA turns up.”

Suffice it to say, the public release of ‘See The Light’ was highly anticipated, and rightfully so. Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso each took to their own social media pages to celebrate the new single. In his caption, Ingrosso reminisced on the creation of the track: “We made this song a cold winter night in Sweden thinking about a lot of things but most important to seeing this come alive in the time of light.”

To celebrate the official release, the group announced a surprise show in London at E1 on May 27. The event was free on a first-come, first-serve basis with a limited number of tickets to the East London warehouse venue. “London with our best friends celebrating See The Light,” SMH’s Instagram caption read on their recap video of the pop-up rave.

Both fans and friends of SHM had overwhelmingly positive things to say about both the track itself and the subsequent celebration. “An unforgettable night, thank you for letting us celebrate with you in the best way possible!!!!” one user commented, while another wrote, “Memories to last a lifetime.”
