SoDown Claims Someone “Dosed” Him Before a Recent Set

SoDown alleges that he was “dosed” or drugged against his will before a set.

SoDown, an American DJ and saxophone player, recently shared some disquieting news on Twitter. “I got dosed this weekend before my set… I had so much anxiety before I went on, but I decided to play. I always play sober and that was such a wild experience. Super… rude to whoever did that. [It] felt really violating and stressful.”

SoDown did not disclose where he was dosed, which set, or any details. Although he most recently played at Shambhala Music Festival, fans speculated that it could have been at an event at Cervs. Despite the ensuing discussions and debates on Twitter, SoDown neglected to clarify.

Although SoDown may have shared disappointing news on Twitter, he had incredible things to say about the potential location. “I went to [Shambhala Music Festival] over 10 years ago as a fan, and it has always been one of my favorite festivals! To be back two years in a row on my favorite stage (the village) has been a dream come true, and it’s starting to feel like a tradition to me!”

DJs sharing this type of announcement is undoubtedly disappointing, but there are positive movements within the EDM community actively combating dangerous behavior. DanceSafe is an awesome harm reduction organization, a “health and safety nonprofit dedicated to ending the drug war, providing on-the-ground services, distributing drug checking materials, and more.” The Bunk Police is another fantastic harm reduction organization that sells incredibly accurate at-home drug testing kits, a wide variety for those looking for specificity.

No matter the story, the venue, or the rave – the moral of the story is to be safe! Always practice harm reduction, be kind, and treat others with respect. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. It’s that simple! From our Exron family to yours.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
