Bassnectar Drops 17-Track Album on Subscriber-Only Platform ‘The Other Side’ Ahead of Trial

Despite his lawsuit Bassnectar has released a new album, The Golden Hour, on his fan-paid platform ‘The Other Side’.

The downfall of Lorin Ashton, better known as Bassnectar, sparked one of the biggest controversies in the history of bass music. Multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual abuse against him, igniting a movement that resulted in a widespread boycott of his shows and festivals.

Although his trial is still ongoing, Bassnectar still maintains a considerable fan base who continue to support his music. Even today, Bassnectar’s music receives approximately 1.1 million monthly streams on Spotify.

Following his expulsion from the industry, Bassnectar redirected his focus toward establishing his own personal platform called The Other Side. It was through this platform that he released his first album since his hiatus, titled The Golden Hour. The album consists of 17 tracks that encompass his signature bass drop sound while also exploring elements from various other genres.

The album is exclusively available to fans on his subscriber-only platform, which also offers additional exclusive content such as recordings of previous sets. It serves as a space for the community for ‘Nectar fans to share their thoughts and content.

Before the album’s release, Lorin wrote a lengthy message to his fans, addressing his absence and the decline in his mental health over the past few years. Motivated by the realization that he had accumulated over a million streams on Spotify in 2021, he decided to make strides to return to the scene.

It is unclear when Bassnectar’s trial will come to a resolution, but it seems that people will stand firm on their opinions of him regardless of its end result. However, it is evident that his fan base will continue to remain strong in support.

My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
