Bassnectar Goes Silent Amid Promises for “The Other Side” App

A month has passed since Bassnectar’s team promised the official rollout of The Other Side project including the creation of a new app.

At the start of the year, Bassnectar fans and former fans were invited to join “The Other Side,” a content hub that promised to provide access to every song, mixtape, video, and artwork released by the artist. However, the full experience was only available to those who purchased an “Unlocked” membership, which included access to unreleased material, behind-the-scenes footage, and ticket discounts.

According to a Reddit thread, the last email sent on February 14 promised the launch of The Other Side app would be launched in three weeks. Still, a month later, there is no update, and the “Relive” series, which streams old festival content monthly, has not posted any new content since its first one.

Some people are calling the whole thing a ploy to fund Bassnectar‘s legal fees for his ongoing trial accusing him of sexual misconduct. One Redditor said, “Definitely gives me vibes that he needed money to payout a lawyer. Otherwise, why not wait until everything is ready. Instead they took a million dollars from the fanbase that still has a ton of questions. And how it’s played out over the past month, I think some of those people are probably starting to wonder what’s going on.”

To access the highest-tiered membership, The Other Side was supposedly charging $100 per person for exclusive content. However, the lack of new content or even a statement for over two months has left fans feeling cheated. Fans are starting to question the legitimacy of this rebranded project, with one person commenting that it has sucked any remaining enthusiasm from the fan base.

Some fans express their dissatisfaction with the inconsistent rollout. Another person wrote, “To me, it appears they released it early to rake in the cashflow. Even after it was “found after it wasn’t supposed to be,” doesn’t mean they had to take in money before they were ready.” The Redditor continued on to say, “A statement of “yes, this is real, you were not supposed to know about it, standby while we take a few months to get it launched.” is the proper action to take in that scenario.”

It remains unclear whether The Other Side intends to follow through with its promises to the paying members. However, from this standpoint, the situation appears as a desperate cash grab for personal gain.
