What So Not Promotes Rüfüs du Sol’s New Australian Hard Kombucha Line “Mate Maker”

A new hard kombucha drink is hitting the shelves and is co-founded by Rüfüs du Sol in co-ownership with Hayden James, What so Not, Peking Duk, and others.

On Instagram, Chris Emerson aka What so Not made a post promoting a new alcoholic drink that he is part owner of. The drink is called Mate Maker and started as an idea from a friend Justin Medcraft and is co-founded by Rüfüs du Sol. It was an idea borne out of their belief that there had to be a drink option that is both delicious and environmentally conscious – a drink that could embody the essence of good times shared amongst friends, the core of the Mate Maker philosophy.

Emerson took the time to acknowledge how challenging it can be to fund creative ventures in the music industry, especially given that there is always a risk involved. However, he reiterated that by investing in something that your gut instinct insists on, it’s an investment in authenticity, culture, and something real. With his post, Emerson celebrated the fruition of Mate Maker and the creative minds that came together to make this dream a reality.

Emoh shares, “One of the hardest things in music is funding your creative ventures. It’s not only hard to get the funding, its hard (once you’re financially comfortable) to bring yourself to put that money on the line again on the hunch your wild idea will have an impact. High risk (usually low financial reward) BUT I think in the long term you are investing in authenticity, culture & something that your gut screams ‘you must’. A couple years ago, my friend Justin brought this idea to me & a few of my musical peers (Rufus, peking Duk, Hayden James etc). Justin had been one of those ppl that helped us artists find funding at crucial moments of our careers for, events, music videos, etc, through partnerships in the alcohol business.”

He continues on to share, “Fast forward less than a year & we get some HUGE news; ‘Mate Maker’ is now being stoked in Harris Farm, Dan Murphy’s & Coles! [for my American friends, that’s like Whole Foods, Vons, etc!] So if you’re already heading to the bottle store, get stuck into something better for you, better for the environment & helping us artist fund the wild ideas & shows ur [likely] drinking Mate Maker”.

The post was a true celebration of collaboration among a group of talented and imaginative minds. It’s a testament to how putting faith in your friends and taking a leap of faith can pay off when there’s a supportive community backing it up.
