Virtual Riot’s Wife Opens Up About Mental Health Struggle Amid Poly Relationship

Johanna, or @officialmissneko on Instagram, offered insight into her personal journey with mental health.

Johanna is dubstep DJ Virtual Riot’s wife. She’s been in the news lately due to the drama about her polyamorous relationship with her husband and another married couple, Ava Clover and Lektrique. According to Lektrique, Johanna and Virtual Riot are going their separate ways. Johanna recently removed the DJ’s name from her IG bio, supporting these claims.

It’s clear that Ava Clover (Virtual Riot’s manager and girlfriend) has been spending a lot of one-on-one time with the artist. They’ve recently been pictured traveling the world together for shows and festivals and celebrating their two-year anniversary. Although Johanna’s departure is evident, it’s unclear whether Lektrique is still in the polyamorous picture.

Since the drama unfolded, which included claims of drug abuse, animal abuse, and physical abuse, Johanna seemed to have separated herself from the group. She’s been sharing photos of her dog, Himari, and spending time with her boyfriend, Jojo. We’re not sure how long Johanna has been involved with Jojo, but they have been seeing one another for at least as long as Johanna was involved with Virtual Riot, Ava Clover, and Lektrique.

Johanna has also been busy selling Virtual Riot’s belongings via Instagram stories. She listed everything from clothing to memorabilia, with some items listed for upwards of $500.

However, more recently, Johanna has begun opening up again to her IG followers. This week, she expressed her distaste for the US EDM industry as it pertains to “drug abuse” and “fake friends.” It’s clear that Johanna was upset, and not surprising that she followed up with a mental health post.

In a gym mirror pic, Johanna said “I gained a LOT due to mental health struggles/medication >.< Going to the gym with my boyfriend Jojo several times a week now.” She goes on “Deadlift together (smiling emoji)(heart emoji) supporting each other.”

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
