EXRON EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: DYRO

Dutch producer Dyro, also known as Jordy van Egmond, has paved a prominent path for himself since his journey in the electronic music industry began in 2010. Whether you know him from his pristine production in original tracks and remixes or his work alongside triumphant DJs such as Martin Garrix, Tiësto, Hardwell, and many more, you know that anything this electro king produces will be dripping in an electrifying soundscape. With the COVID-19 global pandemic ceasing the majority of public events, cancelling shows and tours, it made it quite challenging to stay in tune with fans around the world and took away the alluring atmosphere of performing at live events. However, there are some consoling prospects to getting some free time to expand the horizons of your creativity and we got a chance to catch up to Dyro and see what he’s been up to, and what the future holds. Read below!

Exron Music: With live shows and tours cancelled, what have you been doing with your free time?

Dyro: I’ve been spending a lot of time in my studio. Having so much more time and less of my normal creative outlets, I’ve found myself feeling comfortable to experiment and really enjoy focusing on my development at the moment. Still hope we’re back to normal live shows ASAP though!!!!

Exron Music: Recently, you just released a remix of John K’s ‘Happiness’. What inspired you to choose this song to remix?

Dyro: To me, the lyrics of this track translate so well to what we’ve all been going through in this crazy year, so I was very excited when I was approached to do a remix of it. It was great working with John and I love this remix as a first taste of what I’ve been up to this year.

Exron Music: Every track you’ve produced has its own unique soundscape. So tell us about your production style. What makes you choose the artistic approach you do with each differing track?

Dyro: I think inspiration for each track comes from a different place which translates to how I end up approaching it.

Exron Music: You’ve been in the industry for quite a while now. Where do you find constant fresh inspiration?

Dyro: Like I said, inspiration always comes from different places. Normally traveling and doing shows is a big part of it, so I was happy to experience getting the same from challenging myself productionally this year in the absence of touring.

Exron Music: You’ve worked with various renowned artists from the industry such as Martin Garrix, Hardwell, and Tiësto. Any collabs in the making that we can anticipate in the near future?

Dyro: Hopefully yes, I’m always open to collaborating! My main focus has really been on pushing myself creatively though, so first and foremost I’m very excited to be showcasing some of the new material that came out of that in the new year!

Exron Music: With this year under the wraps, do you have any exciting plans for the new year? Maybe some new music?

Dyro: New music. And hopefully back to touring ASAP!

Exron Music: Any big plans for live performances next year? Are you planning to play on cancelled festivals and shows?

Dyro: Hopefully next year there’ll be less of (not) playing on cancelled shows and more of playing shows that actually are taking place again 😉
