I_O AND LIGHTS DROP “ANNIHILATION” AHEAD OF NEXT WEEK’S ‘AM 444’ EP RELEASE – [LISTEN]

i_o makes his hotly-anticipated return with ‘Annihilation’, a collaboration between the L.A.-based techno DJ/producer and electronic vocalist Lights. Out now on mau5trap, the latest from Garrett Lockhart will be prominently featured on his upcoming third and final edition of the three-part ‘444’ album series, ‘AM 444’, serving as a prime sneak peek of what’s to come later this month.

2019’s ‘ACID 444’ focused on Lockhart’s early heady warehouse days, while its successor, this past February’s ‘NRG 444’, placed an emphasis on more energetically propelling techno. ‘AM 444’ will see i_o take a stab at producing music with more of a melodically progressive vibe, perfectly complemented on all four tracks by singer-songwriter Lights. The world of EDEN acts as the conceptual premise behind their upcoming endeavor. The DJ/producer crafts it as a digital paradise meant for escapism, while Lights forms it as alternative consciousness in a grim world.

After having blown up in the scene in 2017, i_o has gone on to grace the stages of some of the biggest music festivals like EDC Vegas, Creamfields, Ultra Miami, and Paradiso, to name a few. His uniquely resonant brand of techno quickly caught the attention of Lights when they met while on tour with Deadmau5 for his cube v3 tour, and the rest is history!

Impressively hitting #1 on Apple Music’s Electronic category just 2 days after its debut, ‘Annihilation’ is an exhilarating release, shifting stylistically ever-so slightly from Lockhart’s previous work. Lights’ ethereally sonorous voice permeates, blending in flawlessly with the dark resounding undertones. Its sinister ambience emphatically reverberates throughout the almost-four-minute production, fitting in effortlessly with i_o’s established catalogue of work.
